Our firm is looking for a dynamic Senior Associate to join our Assurance team.  You will have the opportunity to work as a team member on client engagements in a growing mid-sized firm where you would learn the fundamentals of audit, accounting and tax.  You will also have the opportunity to work on publicly listed entity audits, learning the nuances of preparing audit communications to the board of directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating audits of financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables
  • Demonstrate experience and ability to act as an in-charge on engagements
  • Collaborate with the engagement manager/senior manager and partners on engagement approach and execute on the plan using a risk-based approach
  • Recognize industry-specific and general accounting and auditing issues, including revenue recognition, financial instruments, and deferred tax provisions, etc.
  • Provide insightful feedback on financial statements and prepare other client deliverables such as board communications, deficiency letters, management letters, etc.
  • Supervise associates on engagement teams and function as an in-charge, monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan and budget
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise
  • Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow from client to audit team and vice versa is efficient
  • Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to manager/senior manager and partner on engagement
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members
  • Manage time appropriately across multiple projects

Qualifications:

  • 2 – 4 years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment
  • CPA Certification or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA certification (successfully passed CFE)
  • Understanding of audit services with knowledge of ASPE, IFRS and CASs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with goodwill, intangible assets, impairment issues, valuations and related assumptions, stock-based compensation and equity

Our firm is looking for a dynamic Senior Tax Manager to join our Tax Advisory Group. You will have the opportunity to work as a team member on client engagements in a growing mid-sized firm where you would be relied upon to provide tax advisory and direct the work of staff, including reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness. Additionally, you will research and prepare tax-planning strategies for our clients and take the lead on the preparation of complex tax returns.  Our Tax Advisory Group should provide you the opportunity to work on publicly listed entities and private corporations in providing tax advice on transactions, re-organization, and indirect tax matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Working closely with a Partner as a senior team member on tax planning work for clients
  • Planning and organizing teams for the preparation of tax returns and conducting and presenting tax research
  • Become part of the tax engagement team in servicing the planning and compliance needs of clients
  • Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff
  • Work with other office members in attracting new work to the firm
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members
  • Manage time appropriately across multiple projects

Qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 years of current or recent experience in a public accounting environment
  • CPA, CA Certification
  • CPA in-depth tax program or MTAX
